THE HOLY GHOSTWRITER Rejoice in the different ways people worship God
It seems appropriate to begin the New Year by worshiping without concern for our boundaries, but rather by showing awareness of our partnership.
Do not dismiss that which causes one Christian to worship in a way that is different from another Christian – rejoice in that, because the Spirit of the Lord ignites the unique personalities and talents and cultural environment of each of his "dependents," and so encourages great variety of worship – in prayer and Scripture sharing and music and physical response and group connection.
Praise God that we do not have to be "cookie-cuttered" followers, but are called to use all that we are to focus on and praise our Lord Jesus.
Today, while we recognize that two people in a family can root for opposing football teams and still find common ground in their love of each other – so too can we sing different songs and say things in different ways, and receive sermons (or homilies or preaching or messages or prophesies) in various ways while finding our common (communion) ground in the One who said, "I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life."
On New Year's resolutions
This is the time of year for resolutions. Generally I resolve to not make any resolutions I cannot keep. As a result, I don’t make resolutions.
But this year, I am making some resolutions regarding social media:
I will have less Facebook, and more face in Book.
I will use the tick-tocks in my day for anything but Tik-Tok.
My heart will be all a-twitter for things that are not Twitter.
I will prevail at ignoring junk e-mail.
I will be less attached to my earbuds, and more attached to my dear buds.
When driving, or visiting, or in person-to-person conversation, I will leave my iPhone aLone.
I will let the term App stand for Appreciation, and use that frequently.
Less BlueTooth and more do Truth.
From now on, blog will stand for Boldly Lean On God.
